Home Ground Escapes Is Coming to the Midlands

The same standard, a different landscape.

18 September 2026

Home Ground Escapes has always been about the KwaZulu-Natal Coast — but the coast was never meant to be the whole story. We're expanding into the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, bringing the same standard of management and the same considered approach to a different kind of landscape entirely.

Why the Midlands

The Midlands offers something the coast simply can't — mist-covered hills, forest, a slower and cooler rhythm that suits a different kind of stay. It's a natural extension rather than a departure. The same principles that have shaped every home in the current collection — meticulous preparation, dependable management, homes chosen for what they offer rather than simply where they are — apply just as well to a farmhouse in the Midlands as they do to a beachfront home on the coast.

There's also something more personal behind this expansion. Both of our founders were brought up in Pietermaritzburg and schooled in the Midlands — this isn't new territory being entered for the sake of growth, but a return to landscape both know well and care about. That familiarity matters. Knowing a region properly, rather than simply identifying an opportunity in it, is what has shaped this collection from the start.

What this means

We're currently identifying and onboarding the first properties in the region. The process is the same one that has shaped the coastal collection — homes are selected carefully, not simply added to grow a number. It will take the time it takes to get this right.

In the meantime, the coastal collection continues exactly as it has — nothing changes there. The Midlands is additional, not a shift in focus.

What to expect

As Midlands properties come online, they'll be introduced here, in the same way every home in the current collection has been. If you're interested in staying in the Midlands once properties are available, or if you own a Midlands property that might belong in this collection, we'd like to hear from you.
