When you submit an enquiry through our website, we collect the following personal information:

• Your phone number
• Your intended travel dates and guest numbers

We also collect standard website analytics data through Google Analytics 4, including pages visited, time on site, device type, and approximate location. This data is anonymised and aggregated — it cannot be used to identify you individually.

Why we collect it

We collect your personal information for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry and, if you proceed, to manage your booking. We do not use your information for any other purpose without your explicit consent.

We collect analytics data to understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it.

How we use your information

Your enquiry details are received by the Home Ground Escapes reservations team and used solely to respond to your request. If your stay is confirmed, your details are retained for the duration of your booking relationship with us.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except where necessary to manage your booking (for example, sharing your name with a property caretaker ahead of your arrival).

How long we keep your information

Enquiry details for stays that do not proceed are retained for 12 months and then deleted. Booking records for confirmed stays are retained for 5 years for financial record-keeping purposes, in line with South African tax requirements.

Your rights under POPIA

The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) gives you the following rights regarding your personal information:

• The right to access — you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• The right to correction — you may ask us to correct inaccurate information.
• The right to deletion — you may ask us to delete your information, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain it.
• The right to object — you may object to the processing of your information in certain circumstances.
