Most short-term rental platforms list your home and leave the rest to chance — to the guest's expectations, to the luck of the next booking. Home Ground Escapes works differently. We manage every property in our portfolio personally, as if it were our own.
That means one team handling everything: guest communications from first enquiry to departure, housekeeping to a consistent standard, proactive maintenance before problems become complaints, and regular reporting so you always know how your home is performing. We don't disappear after onboarding.
We are meticulous about the homes we take on because we can only be devoted to the homes we manage well. The result is a portfolio that performs financially and is genuinely cared for — not simply listed.

We are selective. Deliberately.
We manage a small portfolio by design. Every home we take on receives the same level of attention — which means we can only work with a limited number of owners at any one time.
We look for four things in every home we consider:
Character and quality. The home should have genuine character — thoughtful design, well-maintained finishes, and a standard of presentation that guests will immediately recognise. We are not looking for the most expensive home in the area; we are looking for the most considered one.
Owner alignment. We work with owners who care about their properties and about the experience their guests have. The relationship works best when owner and manager share the same standards.
Location. We currently operate on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast and are selectively expanding to new destinations. We consider homes in areas where we can manage them to the same standard as our existing portfolio — proximity to our team matters.
Readiness. The home should be ready for guests — or close to it. We can advise on minor improvements but we are not a renovation management service.

What's included
All guest management, housekeeping coordination, maintenance oversight, owner reporting, and marketing are included within our commission. We do not charge additional fees for these services.
What's billed separately
Direct costs incurred on your behalf — such as maintenance work, consumables restocking, and professional photography if required — are billed at cost with your prior approval. We do not mark up third-party costs.
